BIOGRAPHY

Alfonso Casado was born in Alcalá de Guadaíra, Seville, in 1984 where he started his musical training at the age of 7. He continued his training under the supervision of Mrs. María Floristán and Mr. Juan Luis Pérez in Seville to then move to Madrid and complete his piano degree at the Royal Conservatory of Music with Mrs. Ana Guijarro. Mrs. Guijarro, Mrs. Floristán and Mr. Pérez were instrumental in his growth as a musician.
 
He took master lessons in Spain and Salzburg with many great teachers, such as Claudio Martínez Menher, Alfons Kontarsky, Galina Eguiazarova and Almudena Cano. He was also part of the JONDE (Spain National Young Orchestra).
 
His first contact with musical theatre was at the age of 19 playing the keyboard in "El Fantasma de la Ópera" ("Phantom of the Opera") in the Lope de Vega theatre in Madrid, and since then he has been part of the rehearsals and performances of all the shows that Stage Entertainment has put together in Madrid, Barcelona and On Tour between 2003 and 2012: "Mamma Mia!", "La Bella y la Bestia" ("The Beauty and the Beast"), "Los Productores" ("The Producers"), "High School Musical", "Les Miserables"... etc.
 
At the age of 20, he made his debut as Musical Director with the show "Mamma Mia!" at Lope de Vega Theatre in Madrid (2005). He has been conducting shows in Spain ever since (Mamma Mia!, High School Musical, Los Miserables) and in London, where he moved in 2012 and currently lives. Cameron Mackintosh hired him to conduct the original production of “Les Misérables” at the Queen´s theatre in London and he has been conducting and supervising shows in the West End and abroad ever since.

Alfonso has conducted the BBCCO at the Royal Opera House (Miss Saigon performance) during the Olivier Awards and also at the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium.

He was the musical director of the 25th Gala Performance of “Miss Saigon”, released worldwide on DVD and was co-supervisor of the 30th Gala performance of “Les Misérables” in London.

 

In December 2015 he conducted the OBC (Barcelona Symphony orchestra) in a Christmas programme including 4 soloists and a choir of 135.

Awards include Best Musical director for “Los Miserables” in Spain and Best Musical Director in the West End for “Miss Saigon”.

Albums include Mamma Mia! (Spanish cast), High School Musical (Spanish cast), Los Miserables (Spanish Cast), Miss Saigon (London 2014 revival cast)

In 2008 he was hired by Soundub Dubbing Studios for whom he has translated, adapted and conducted songs for TV Shows and Films, mainly Disney and Disney Channel: "Ant Farm", "Phineas & Ferb", "Spongebob Squarepants", "Muppets", "Stich", "Good Luck Charlie” and more.
 
In 2009 Alfonso founded BISEMOL. BISEMOL, among other projects, was the consulting company for the opening and management of the Theatre "Riberas del Guadaíra", Alcalá de Guadaíra, Seville.
 
Future commitments include “Candide” (Grange Park Opera Festival), BBBCO (Classical music recording with soloist Juan Pérez – January 2018, London), OBC (Concerts, Barcelona).
